Current Projects: Cups

Oh its thunderstorming so hard…I really hope this saves.

After Arts In Bloom, I have been making cups, to the annoyance to Brittney, since I take up the whole table in the studio (oops). Here are some in progress cups:

This was right off the wheel, 20 cups! There are two types of clay here, white stoneware and B-Mix with grog. I like big rims and thin walls so the next week I cried because of all the handles I had to pull. But I altered most of the cups to practice texture and to make it more interesting.

Also, those double cups are pencil cups or just conjoined. There was the nice lady who wanted a lot of those so I made them for her. There are more cups on the way; I just was in a mad rush to clean up like every time I go to the studio so I didn’t get them photographed.

Hoping they’ll be bone dry,

Leila

Arts In Bloom 2016

Arts in Bloom is the kick off to spring arts and music festival in McKinney. This year, the weather was less than desirable but it was quite a success. Despite the rainy weather and fear of thunderstorms, so many people showed up to come say hi! Here’s a photo of our little set up; my good friend Brittney and I split the table in half.

I managed to condense my 4 boxes of stuff into 3 boxes, which is incredible and partially the reason why I need to make this website. I sold most of my cups and a good amount of vases. I got a couple of commissions and lately, I have been just churning out cups of all shapes and sizes. Throughout the whole day, Brittney and I just relaxed and advertised camps and classes.

I will be at Second Saturday on MAY 14th, 2016! I will be in front of Square Burger and will drag a wheel and some clay! It is 7-9 at night ~ So if you’re looking for something fun, this is definitely the place to be!
